About Dr Kennedy

Specialist care for metabolic health, hormones, and complex conditions.

Dr Lisa Kennedy is an internal medicine physician with a special focus on obesity and metabolic health, menopause and women's hormonal health, and the management of complex chronic syndromes including long COVID, ME/CFS, POTS, and MCAS.

Background & training

Born and raised in Adelaide, Dr Kennedy obtained her medical degree from Flinders University in 2010 and completed Basic and Advanced Physician Training at multiple hospitals across South Australia.

With extensive experience in metabolic care, Dr Kennedy has a strong clinical interest in the use of GLP-1 and incretin therapies as part of modern obesity and insulin resistance management. She also has a strong interest in wholefood, plant-forward nutrition and lifestyle medicine — bringing a holistic lens to helping patients improve health, energy, and long-term wellbeing.

Outside of medicine, Dr Kennedy has a long-standing passion for fitness, nutrition, and wellness. She is an experienced dance and fitness instructor, and has a strong interest in wholefood, plant-forward nutrition. She is also an avid vegetable gardener and cook.

Areas of interest

What Dr Kennedy specialises in

Obesity & metabolic health

Specialist-led, evidence-based care for sustainable weight management and metabolic health — including insulin resistance, type 2 diabetes prevention, and modern GLP-1 and incretin therapies. Integrated with lifestyle medicine and plant-forward nutrition.

Menopause & women's hormonal health

Expert, personalised support for women navigating perimenopause and menopause — hormonal health, energy, cognition, mood, sleep, and the metabolic changes that come with this transition. Dr Kennedy takes women's hormonal health seriously.

Long COVID & post-viral syndromes

Thoughtful, evidence-informed management of long COVID, ME/CFS, POTS, and MCAS — conditions that are often poorly understood and underserved. Dr Kennedy brings both clinical expertise and genuine compassion to these complex presentations.

Complex & unexplained presentations

Thorough assessment of complex or unexplained medical presentations requiring a broad internal medicine lens and a willingness to look further than a standard referral.

Philosophy of care

Holistic. Evidence-based. Genuinely collaborative.

Dr Kennedy brings a holistic lens to every consultation — integrating medical, lifestyle, and personalised strategies to help patients improve energy, cognition, metabolic function, and overall quality of life. She has a strong interest in wholefood, plant-forward nutrition and lifestyle medicine, and believes that sustainable change comes from working with patients, not prescribing at them.
